01 / Why Ethiopia · Guji, Ethiopia

Coffee was born here.
It never left.

Coffee was first found growing wild in Ethiopia’s highland forests, and it grows wild there still. Farmers tend thousands of heirloom varieties found nowhere else. Before Guji, Suke Quto or a medium roast, there was one simple choice: begin where coffee began.

Thousands

Heirloom varieties. Ethiopia’s coffee holds a remarkable range of varieties, shaped across generations and still grown in the country’s highlands.

1,800–2,200 m

High in the Guji highlands. Cool nights and warm days let cherries ripen slowly, as sweetness builds inside the bean.

Under native shade

02 / The land

Before the cup,
there is a forest.

Slow to ripenCool nights. Warm days. Sweetness in the bean.

In the Guji highlands, coffee and forest share the same ground. After fires damaged the surrounding land, Tesfaye Bekele saw a way to help it regenerate: grow coffee beneath native shade trees, creating a livelihood that gave the forest a future. Suke Quto grew from that conviction. At this height, cool nights slow the cherries’ ripening, giving sweetness time to build inside them.

03 / The people

One vision.
Generations of possibility.

Tesfaye’s work is rooted in a simple understanding: the future of this land and the future of its people belong together.

More than 150 neighboring families grow coffee alongside him. They tend small farms of their own, with vegetables and cattle beside the coffee, and bring their ripe cherries to his washing station. Every bag begins with their work.

Good coffee begins long
before the first pour.

04 / What grows alongside

A place to grow.
A future to share.

Exceptional coffee never exists in isolation. Around Suke Quto, its story reaches beyond the farm, into the lives and hopes of the wider community.

Learning, close to home

A school.
A shared investment.

The village school began as one mud-walled room, where children sat on the floor. Tesfaye poured a cement floor and, with buyers of his coffee, began a project to renew local schools—supporting a new wing and library at Kurume and new classrooms at Suke.

It is a chapter in this origin’s history that we are proud to share, and a reminder to look beyond what is in the cup.

A little more meaning.
In every ritual.

Citrus up front. Cherry and peach through the middle. Cream at the finish. A medium roast, chosen so the origin stays in the cup.

Deep Root Coffee × United Endodontics

United in Care.Rooted in Excellence.

That is the promise at United Endodontics, the dental specialty practice behind Deep Root Coffee. We chose Suke Quto’s coffee because it is rooted in the same two things we are: community and excellence.

Rooted in Excellence

At United Endodontics, our work is judged by the dentists who trust us with their patients. At Suke Quto, coffee earns its premium by meeting the importer’s quality standard. Deep Root brings that same respect for precision and care to every small-batch roast.

Rooted in Community

At Suke Quto, coffee helps a community look after itself: a forest replanted, farming families earning a living, a school renewed. We try to practice the same way at home—rooted in our community, where every patient is a person and never a number.

Our next chapter, closer to home.
A local giving program is planned; partner and contribution details are still being developed.

You do not need to be a patient to enjoy Doc’s Blend. Coffee purchases are independent of patient referrals and care at United Endodontics.

A note from Dr. Geisler

Dear Doc,

Hi, I’m Todd Geisler.

Like many of you, I start my day with a good cup of coffee.

Over the years, I’ve tried countless coffees, always looking for something exceptional. Some of my favorite cups have been found while traveling—where the care, craft and pleasure of a truly good coffee seem to slow the day down.

Over the past year, I’ve made it my mission to bring that flavor home. After a lot of research, I found something special in Ethiopia, the place where coffee first grew wild.

I’m excited to share it with you. We spend our days taking care of others, and I believe we should make room for the small things that help us care for ourselves.

For me, great coffee is more than a morning routine. It’s a moment to pause, connect and enjoy something exceptional.

I look forward to sharing it with you.

Cheers,
Todd
